My doctor friends gave me a estimate, how much it cost to treat covid in private hospital

Estimated admission bills

(not including treating Co existing medical/surgical illnesses)

Category

Cat 1/2 : 7-14k (no symptom)

Cat 3 : 7k-21k (mild symptom)

Cat 4 : (kiv id/respi/icu/ventilation & intensivist) 70k-140k (ICU la)

Cat 5 : (kiv +dialysis/cardio/gastro) 140k - 280k (dying cases)

Remember, if you don't have a medical card, apply now… because we heard, from trustable sources, that insurance company will postpone any ex covid patients for 6 month if he applies a medical card even after he is fully recovered.

Means cannot buy medical insurance for 6 months after infected with civid.

We have been telling our clients and friends to be patient, while we wait for the updated press release from AIA. However, LIAM, the Life insurance association of Malaysia, made a surprise announcement saying due to Covid-19 is a pandemic and the emergency ordinance announce recently, insurers cannot cover Covid-19 in private hospital?? WHAT? Since then, we got more phone calls and whatsapps asking for answers.

Now, in my experience and knowledge as an agent for the last 20 years, an contract is a contract, meaning the Insurance company cannot simply say don’t cover as they like. The reason LIAM say cannot cover, is because most of the insurance company has a clause that exclude PANDEMIC, and they can’t calculate the risk and premium involve in Covid-19 outbreak.. what la… non sense.

AIA Policies every since I started work selling the old Hospital and Surgical Benefit policy, has no clause excluding Pandemic! Meaning we should covers Covid-19 by contract.

And today, AIA issues an official announcement saying YES! AIA Covers Covid-19 Coverage in Private Hospital for nearly all their individual medical card holder. Individual Medical Card means you buy in your own name one, NOT A COMPANY GROUP INSURANCE!

There are 2 part of this… Individual Medical Insurance and Group Medical Insurance policy. Let’s focus on the bigger issue, Individual medical Insurance,

Exact words from AIA:

we wish to inform you that the newer generation of AIA’s individual medical plans however do not have this exclusion clause. What this means to our customers of these plans is that, they will be covered for hospitalisation under their medical plans if they are diagnosed with COVID-19 and require inpatient treatment which is medically necessary at hospitals. This coverage is subject to the terms and conditions of the respective policy/certificate and plan. Our cashless facility will not be available for COVID- 19 claims, so all approved claims will be paid on a reimbursement basis according to reasonable and customary charges.

Mean AIA Covers Covid-19 in Private Hospital, but cannot use Cashless Card, must do file and claim. Which is good enough!

If you decide to go government then you can still get the earlier announced coverage of RM 200 per day up to 30 day, and death benefit of 10,000 if they client passed away, this special coverage will cease on 31st March 2021

So which newer medical insurance policy cover and which older one don’t cover?? Nearly all individual medical policy from 1995-2021 cover Covid-10

There are only 4 policies from the old ING era that doesn’t cover covid

1. ING MediPlus

2. Medical for Investment link Takaful Salam

3. Medical for investment link Takaful education

4. Medical for Takaful Syammi.

Check your policies, but I don't think too many people has those old policies.

What documents are required for reimbursement claims submission for COVID-19 hospitalisation? The documents required are as follows:

* Hospitalisation Claim Form (Individual)

* Original Hospital invoice, itemised bills and payment receipts

* All Imaging and laboratory reports such as x-rays and blood test results

* Any supporting documents from any Ministry of Health medically trained personnel or officer referring you to the private hospital and/or the name and contact details of any Ministry of Heath personnel attending to you.

So for home quarantine, sorry la. takla cover!!!! Home quarantine, cover yourself.

(RE) that’s it, our short report on covid coverage from AIA. The best insurance company. Yeah!!
